Remedy Sports Medicine - Providing Non-Operative Solutions for Pain in Central Oregon!
Greetings, Central Oregon!
I am Maria DelliVeneri - founder and provider at Remedy Sports Medicine, serving Central Oregon with non-op solutions to injuries and pain since October 2023.
Let’s back it up for a minute as I introduce myself and how I landed here in Bend, Oregon. I’ve been a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 2008 (you’ve probably noticed ATCs on the sidelines with your favorite sports team prepping athletes for competition, and running onto the field when an athlete goes down). While nothing beats seeing an athlete perform at their best, and I saw A LOT of that with my time working with the D1 University of Arizona Wildcats, my passion is serving everyday folks like me that make movement a part of their life; be it pickleball, their regular workout in the gym, or taking advantage of all of the outdoor experiences this world has to offer - I’m here for it.
I fell into this passion as I moved cross-country from the winters of Upstate New York to the Sonoran Desert in Tucson, Arizona to work at Canyon Ranch, the original, world-renowned trailblazer of integrative wellness. (True story - the day I left to drive 2,480 miles from NY -> AZ a blizzard rolled through shutting down the NYS Thruway in true lake-effect snow fashion rerouting me down through NYC, an adventure in its own right, and through the hills of PA. Nothing like a good East Coast goodbye!).
It was at Canyon Ranch I was exposed to the emerging technologies of Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy and Class IV Laser therapy and the effects these two modalities when combined with a comprehensive clinical movement exam and rehab plan, can have on pain and chronic injury. Spending 8 years in the desert treating patients exclusively with Shockwave and Class IV Laser therapy showed what was possible when creating a healing environment within the body, integrating care to address the effects chronic pain and injury have on the whole body (I’m talking about you -sleep, diet, and sense of self), and the power the body has to heal itself when given the right conditions.
While at Canyon Ranch I had the opportunity to impact the lives and movement of the patients I interacted with onsite in the time we worked together. It showed me the limitations as a nation we have to the access of care with these technologies as often my patients had difficulties locating providers once they went back home. And, as a clinician that’s hard. Hard to know that Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy is THE standard of care for treating tendinopathy internationally as seen by the long list of indicated uses according to the International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment. This led me to my role working for the manufacturer of the shockwave and laser therapy companies- Enovis. It was here as Clinical Education Manager I was able to travel the country educating other providers on why these technologies are a must for any rehab professional looking to treat patients and get results. There is a reason Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy and Class IV Laser therapy are in over 200+ athletic training rooms at the Professional and Collegiate Sports level - they work!
